President's Message
Aloha Kakou,
Welcome to the Hawai`i State PTSA (HSPTSA).
To support our local units, we held Leadership Training sessions throughout the state, hosted
HSPTSA's Annual 2010 Reflections Awards Banquet on May 30, 2010 at the Ala Moana Hotel where we
celebrated Hawai'i Keiki and their achievement in the Arts.
At our 83rd Annual Convention on May 29, 2010 we had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Betsy Landers, National
PTA President-Elect who shared her vision with PTA/PTSA members and challenged us to continue our efforts in advocating
for our children to end school furloughs!
Convention delegates also enjoyed the many workshops offered with topics ranging from PTA Programs, 990 Filing,
Parliamentary Procedures, the “Ins and Outs” of Hawaii’s Special Education and much more. Delegates also appreciated all
the exhibitors and ideas for fundraising, safety and health.
I like to thank HSPTSA volunteer state board members who have assisted our local units throughout the year. As volunteer
leaders in our community we the opportunity to make a difference and celebrate our successes. As you can see from the
various vacancies in your state board, we are in need of those of you at the local board level to share your talents, skill and
courage to lead at a state level and support local units statewide. Thank you, to all of you, for your contributions!
